So far I have been using a part of my office/kitchen table and my ironing board as supports for a piece of mdf board, but it's way too low. So, I want the heightof the new table to be definitely above the waist. The thing is, my elbows are level with the waist, so I guess I'll have to lift them a little bit.

Could you put stacks of books under your current setup to see how you get on with other heights? Then you get a good idea of what works best for you. -

but the idea to experiment with the height is a good one, I'll keep it in mind
