@petergleick Yeah, this is false reporting. They might try to hide behind "technically true", but that's just not how we communicate numbers. If a government program was projected to cost roughly $9 million, would the headline say it cost "thousands of dollars"?

@stefano @angel The motherboard died on mine, I then found another at a flea market. I think it died too. Battery has been gone for a long time, too...
I have acquired other netbooks. I don't use them, but they still appeal to me.

@ozzelot @angel mine was doing great. it mostly ran with PCBSD (it was a great FreeBSD distribution, at that time). It's also been a decent hackintosh. I still have it but the battery is totally flat.
