This is insane. I just got a warning that ICE is coming to my area in the next week to two weeks. I'm a Green Card holder, but they could still put me in a detention camp or deport me without warning — e.g. because I make social media posts critical of the government.

So until ICE have gone I'm going to have to hide indoors and avoid driving in case I encounter road blocks or get stopped on the street. 1/2

I'm going to have to tell my son to stay at his mother's place so that I don't have to drive him to school. This is not just for my safety, but for his. He's black, and could end up being assaulted or killed. He's adopted from one of the countries that Trump is no longer allowing immigration from, and they could easily make up an excuse to strip him of his naturalized citizenship.

My father-in-law is a die-hard MAGA supporter, BTW. He voted for this.

4/2 The house is well stocked with wood pellets for the stove. Various friends have volunteered to get groceries for us in case it's too much for my partner. My teenage son (who is Black) will not be visiting me for the next few weeks until we get the all clear. I've canceled a doctor's appointment for Monday. I've let the other prison volunteers know I may not be able to attend the meditation group for the next few weeks.

Hunkering down until the ICE-storm passes.

@bodhipaksa I'm an American, and I don't think you have too much to worry about. You're the wrong color. This is entirely a race thing for MAGA. Better safe than sorry though. You can probably go out, but absolutely don't speak to anyone because of your accent. That would be my advise.
