@nazokiyoubinbou @Viss Exactly

@neurovagrant also amusingly because dns fuckery, the handful of things that are unavoidably cloud bullshits were offline, while all the local api hosted shit was totally fine, despite dhcp and dns being down :D
static ips for the win!
@Viss couldn't resist, tbh

KEA strikes again
pfSense keeps saying ISC is old and busted, but you know what? IT WORKS.
There is a reason I continue to run ISC on my OPNsense boxes. KEA is a shit show. How badly do you need whatever show stopping features that KEA offers over ISC? We're talking home lab networks here...
@kajer @neurovagrant i fucking hate kea. its horrible. i dont know why they pushed it, isc was fine. i wonder if i can force reinstall it, or use another dhcp server

BuT IsC Is EnD oF LiFe
bitch, you can't just call something EoL if the replacement is dogshit. Well, devops, I guess you can.

@mgd81 did someone forget to refuel the generator? or is it bgp fuckery?
@Viss No idea, no communication. At this point, I'd be better off getting on a plane to go and find out for myself. Based on past experience, it's an electrical issue of some sort, and probably generator fueling in the end.
-
@Viss "forsake the cloud," they said.
"self-hosting is fine," they said.
@neurovagrant @Viss That's why I hold the opinion of "all tech sucks, fuck this, I'm gonna go work for a goat farm".

@Viss @kajer @neurovagrant ISC is still selectable for me:
@jernej__s @Viss @neurovagrant
The optics here are the problem.
OMG ISC IS OLD AND YOU WILL GET HACKED
no, it's DHCP, calm down. Also, with shellshock, DHCP hacks you.

@Viss @neurovagrant @logan def do not recommend choosing to spend ~9 days in a house with a hyperactive 2yo and 4yo. #ouch #ow
-
@Viss this seems... suboptimal for a dhcp service that is supposed to be "the new hotness". Guess I'll keep with the old but good.
-
@Viss is there a reason you stay with pfsense and not migrate to opnsense or something else? Honestly curious?
-
@Viss That's an ooof of a bug.
Does Adguard not do DHCP? I'm using PiHole which has been solid for nearly 5 years (on the same SD card, no less [I have a hotspare!]) and I let pihole do the DNS+DHCP and OPNSense do wireguard + firewall + routing.

@Viss ...gfdi
