Anxiety through the roof as I’ve been texting all day with a friend who lives in Dubai.
The Emirates have been under retaliatory missile attack for hours… the first strikes targeted military bases but they have since moved to other targets. The Fairmont Hotel at Palm Jumeirah was hit by debris… my friend reports seeing jets overhead and hearing frequent loud booms.

@_elena "Abu Dhabi: The UAE Ministry of Defence announced that its air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed a new wave of Iranian missiles and drones aimed at the country. " Since UAE is defending US assets, maybe Iran now is seeing them as ennemies 🤔

My friend in Dubai has been giving me a play-by-play all day. So many missiles and loud booms when they get intercepted. Feeling super anxious for her 😢

@andycarolan thank you! She’s been giving me a play-by-play all day. This morning it was distant military bases… but it quickly escalated to residential areas (even near her). Really scary stuff

@AndiBarth Are they counting paper ballots or is there digital voting? You clarified that it is about counting the mail-in votes, so they are scanning the paper ballots, which can be recounted. I am all for digital solutions *after* the vote was on paper, allowing a recount.
