Vítejte na palubě meziměstského expresu České dráhy směřujícího na Berlín východní nádraží
@jon it is definitely CD train but the carriages looks like they don't belong to it. What's that?
I know that they have cobbled together trains but I thought that they don't run in different countries.

It’s so joyous
No stupid gates to get onto the platform
No silly announcements telling me to label my luggage or not try to open the doors at the wrong time, and just a beeping to tell me the doors are closing
Signs telling me what seats are reserved, so I can go find a nice window seat. And no compulsory reservation
Comfy seats
And it works properly with Interrail
@jon Interrail, unfortunately, have just emailed me to say that our personal data has been breached. 🫣
Enjoy your trip.

If you’re in the Talgo end carriage - that has a proper bogie - do you get better ride quality than in the rest of it? 🤔 We‘ll see
First impression: it’s nicer than a Renfe 106
Ok, +30 departing Köln (missing timetable data 🤨)
Now we‘re going: it’s not terrible, but it’s not great either
The wheel noise is noticeably louder than in other ICEs
And there’s a loud air hissing noise every time the train brakes

At these lower speeds at least it doesn’t have the vibrations of a Renfe 106, but the ride is rather jerky somehow. Not serene.

@RensBloom Talgo only has a gap filler at the disabled access door. It doesn’t anywhere else.

@ei8gvb @erebion @tal Exactly!
(But I guess it might be harder for somebody whose native language is not English, or not even Indo-European, even if they know (just) English. It requires experience and skill to successfully guesstimate what simple sentences in a language mean when you don't know it but it is closely related to a language you do know.)

@jon 40 years of blackzeroing (and wasting billions on overpriced stuff or never-to-work projects, Spahn and Scheuer anyone?) have made Germany an economic waste-paper-basket item. Failure to lead in innovation sectors (solar, EV, IT) because of conservativism has kicked us badly in the butt. **Broken railway system, internet speed that sucks, bureaucracy** that doesn't deliver anything but pain to the people and has expanded like a political skin rash... Oh, well.

Step free 😂
@jon That's really horrible. How much longer will each station stop take with that gap?

@Jonas_Bostrom @jon One wonders how they managed to design the train like that? Are the same carriage models expected to be sold to some country where the platform is much closer to the track?
