@chatcontrol Btw I have found something that I'll share with you all even if it's in German but to summarize our ministers don't want to be open with the public about this proposal.

@belladonnalily @chatcontrol But what does Merz think about chat control first of all?

I don't know, but if I remember correctly in one of the articles written by Patrick Breyer is that he is in support of this proposal (even though, just like digitalminister Wildberger, he doesn't want to make his opinion public).

I know, I hate it too because this is a shit situation for Germany in general.
I also made some screenshots which mentions that the union and SPD (including ministress of justice Mrs Hubig) are against the proposal while the CSU/CDU are pushing for it and the last screenshot is mostly relevant for Germans since these are the phonenumbers for the respective ministries to call. I'm atleast glad that there are digital rights groups who bring awareness to this subject. -

I don't know yet, but I'll let you know tomorrow and the next days that follow if I find out anything new. There are still no official statements what will happen to old messages, I assume that we'll be safe since they're too irrelevant for chatcontrol. Anyways I'll be going offline soon because I have to wake up early for work tomorrow. Despite the situation, I wish you and everyone else a good night. We'll make the best of it, I'm sure of it.

@belladonnalily @Kurosetii In the event that Chat Control becomes a reality, it will not apply retroactively. At a purely technical level, achieving this would be impossible.
