A lot of folks are taking this as an argument to ditch Firefox. It isn't—at least not now. Use the tool that works for you, until it doesn't. This is a warning that the AI nonsense won't stop and long-term viability is doubtful. Prepare accordingly.

@mttaggart Mozilla has been chasing fads, and ignoring their ever-declining browser market share for 15 years, at least. This is just the next one. (And, Firefox continues to become ever more irrelevant for the same reasons.)

@swelljoe @mttaggart wait until chrome décides your website is not worth visiting. Mozilla doesn't do it's best, but they still slightly counter balance google.

@usul @mttaggart I have used Firefox as my primary browser (with the only exceptions being testing on others) since the very earliest releases. My name was in the NYTimes Firefox 1.0 ad (alongside a few hundred other folks). I am absolutely loyal to Firefox, and I have been distressed by the neglect Mozilla has shown toward Firefox.

@swelljoe @mttaggart I'm in about:crédits :-) It's not neglect, it's a lack of vision. M's mngnt is silicone valley based where AI is the word of the day/week/month, they are afraid of missing the train ...
Like they are afraid to battle apple to release gecko on IOs
Like Firefoxos could have been done differently if not afraid of missing trains -

Why don't the devs leave and fork it, like originally with Netscape? Well, easier, since it would be a fork, not a new browser built from past lessons

@swelljoe @mttaggart@chocobo13 @usul @mttaggart there are several forks. You've never heard of them, because it turns out it takes resources to maintain a modern browser.
