@guffo I dunno, the stupidity of NFTs still hold up for me. It’s literally owning numbers associated with a thing that gives you no special rights or uses to that thing. The purest possible grift. Does anything really beat that?
AI is infuriating, and causes lots of harm, but I don’t think its main vice is that its a dumb idea.

@guffo It's never a good thing when the actual inventor of the tech publicly proclaims "Don't use it! That's not what I was trying to do.". https://www.anildash.com/2021/11/14/i-didnt-invent-nfts-but-we-dont-really-have-any-other-way-to-talk-about-tech/

@guffo it didn't last long before I found out about DAOs - https://www.investopedia.com/tech/what-dao/
If you thought NFTs were dumb, imagine running your corporation/organization with blockchain voting!
If that sounds ridiculous to you, and you question how that could ever work, you're right! They don't.
It looks like some crypto-bro read Marx books while high af and tried to apply it while keeping capitalism at a maximum. Wtf ?! :D

@Zoonpolitikon @guffo Yeah, as annoying as the AI hype is, the technology at least does something where NFTs were obviously, colossally pointless. Even if AI is worse all round, it's not as dumb.

@guffo I feel like "Trump's social media company is now in the nuclear fusion business" is my current "stupidest thing I've ever heard of".

@guffo sometimes, I wonder if I drank enough alcohol, would I feel better about this crap. Then I remember that I have migraine, and I realize I'd just be substituting one pain for another. 😬😶

@Zoonpolitikon @guffo You don't even own numbers. You cannot apply intellectual property regulations to 42 or pi.
You own a number in a specific system that assigns numbers.

@guffo I’d like to see it being the stupidest thing ever again, but there is so much competition now.

Is there already NFT-as-a-service, where you can only rent the NFTs? With absurd price of course.
