Important thread: It is not foreigners eating your cats and dogs. It is private equity companies buying up all the vet cliniques, raising prices and forcing families to put down their pets, because treatment would ruin their economy.

@randahl Even dental treatment is a shock- getting a bargain now is a guarantee to have the bill under £750 !

@randahl Capitalism doesn’t work. The more money and power concentrates in fewer hands, the more society suffers. Capitalism incentivizes these concentrations. It’s a bad system. We don’t need owners, we don’t need rich people. Great wealth creates dystopian levels of narcissistic action. We need systems that discourage egocentric accumulation of resources and encourage collectivist societies. We are pack animals and this boot straps owner class fairytale is putting humanity ever more at risk.

@randahl I had to go to a clinic owned by the Mars corp in the middle of the night. In Germany the regulation on fees is quite strict so the bill was not too outrageous. But the thing that made me angry was the unnecessary overpriced medication they gave me. I would have rejected it but at 3 in the morning with my worries about my dog I couldn't think straight. I never had this with a regular vet.

@randahl ughhh yeah you know, I just did a business entity search for my vet in my state, Nevada. Naturally I find it’s owned by one of these firms, Vetcor.
