Two things:
1. We are creating a two-tiered internet that will see people willing to give up their IDs having one experience while those who can’t, won’t, or don’t have them missing out on those experiences or being outright excluded from whole areas of the web2. Why you would be willing to give up your ID to web services that have such poor security in a time when identity is being weaponized by state actors is beyond me

You can see how this is leading down a very dark path, right? You don’t have to be a science fiction author to be able to extrapolate from here.

@Ashedryden I live in New York and decided to go without my phone. I was a few feet from my front door when I realized I couldn't get the bike share bike without the app. I signed up to get the keycard. After it arrived, I found it doesn't work on any bike stations.
I thought about how to navigate the world without a phone number. The only people who do that are either very wealthy, or homeless.

@AlSweigart I went to a protest without a phone and realized I couldn’t easily find out when buses come or pay for the fare because everything is so cash averse now

@eniko Can you add some Roland MIDI music support as well? I still have a fully functional Roland CM32L (fully backwards compatible successor to the MT32, but without any display or controls, just a grey box).

@las_lallero @floreana indubbiamente molto limitata. che sia dannosa, più della media della letteratura per ragazzi della fine degli anni 90, mi pare che sia prendere dei dettagli e farli esplodere per cercare di dimostrare che l'autrice fosse una pessima persona già ai tempi (come lo è, indubbiamente, adesso)
solo che nel frattempo si insinua che siano cattive persone che non si sono accorte degli *evidenti* problemi anche tutti quei ragazzi-di-allora¹ che invece hanno letto una storia in cui un ragazzo sfigato con gli occhiali picchiato dai non-genitori e una ragazza secchiona (e quell'altro. sì, c'era anche quell'altro, l'irlandese cattolico con troppi fratelli) affrontano una società adulta messa in pericolo dal razzismo e vincono, che invece mi risulta per l'epoca sia effettivamente stata a) una ventata di aria fresca b) importante per un sacco di persone in situazioni non privilegiate che trovavano rappresentatività (no, non ne ho conosciute di persona, le ho incontrate nei commenti delle fanfiction, quindi abbastanza di sfuggita, ma mi pare che non fossero poche).
¹ per chiarezza: io non ne faccio parte, sono di qualche anno troppo vecchia, la mia letteratura formativa è stata peggio ancora :D
