This is amazing. DHS bought a warehouse in a city called Social Circle, Georgia. When the city council asked DHS how they planned to use the warehouse, DHS refused to answer.
So, the city cut off water and sewer services and put a lock on the water meter, and said that services will remain off “until ICE indicates how water and sewer to the facility will be served without exceeding the limited infrastructure capacity.”
Outstanding. We need more of this! This is how we stop fascism.
@QasimRashid Hell Yeah!

@QasimRashid This is wonderful news. For anyone interested, here's an article about it. https://www.atlantanewsfirst.com/2026/03/17/social-circle-officials-continue-fight-against-ice-facility-cut-off-water/

@QasimRashid 正常人看出权力制衡这一民主原则的现实应用,独裁者、受虐狂们则由此更信奉“权力必须集中”。
Normal people see the practical application of the democratic principle of checks and balances, while dictators and masochists, upon seeing this, are even more convinced that "power must be centralized." -

We need to be careful, those innocent warehouses will eventually be camps for anyone with skin-color. -

Unfortunately it’s quite possible they’d just use the warehouse without serving water or removing sewer... -

I think that idea would work on data centers too. Take any big box store and cut off at utilities and tell them to go fuck themselves.

Otherwise, they'd be opposed to it until they get in power. This is also why the autocrat can't give up power, since once the opposition is in power the tides could turn. This doesn't bode well for 2026 or 2028.

We need to be careful, those innocent warehouses will eventually be camps for anyone with skin-color.@softspeak @QasimRashid One should note that "camps for anyone with skin-color" could be camps for all of us: take anyone whose ancestors were from Europe and hold their hand up to a piece of white paper, and you'll see an obvious color difference. It's as crazy as making a big deal about hair color or eye color.
I figure I'm "gulag fodder" anyway for writing a short, funny book making fun of The Donald.

@QasimRashid Social Circle indeed. ✊
-
@QasimRashid This is how we *delay* fascism.
Bureaucracy can't stop fascism because it requires the fascists to play by the rules, which fascists don't do.
There is no solution to fascism that doesn't involve violence because this is the only language fascists understand.
This was the lesson of WWII - a lesson the West still hasn't learned.
@blueorchestra Well, taking the edge off of capitalism seems to have worked pretty well for decades after WW2. If you can stop rich capitalist's influence on politicians without using violence, you might not even need violence at all.
(Fully agreed on the "play by the rules" part.)

@QasimRashid
This is how much of the French Resistance operated. Tie them down, become as bureaucratic as possible. It can save lives. Unfortunately, I don't think the US will be invaded to put down the regime...
