@nobody @mhoye @futurebird Maybe if there wasn't enough data to rebuild? Like if it's a three drive array, you could lose one and rebuild the data, but lose two out of three and there's no way to recover that (assuming it's not RAID1). You might still be able to use forensic tools to recover some partial data but not complete files so the DVR would just wipe it out and start over.
RAID3 or RAID5 would work that way I think...wiki also says RAID3 is "suitable for applications that demand the highest transfer rates in long sequential reads and writes, for example uncompressed video editing." And RAID5 "requires that all drives but one be present to operate." So that seems to fit.
Although that would require one of those two bad drives to have failed after the incident for it to have actually recorded anything during it. And it says only one drive was working at the time of the incident. So it might not have had any useful data for that anyway.
@admin @nobody @futurebird this was a 16 drive machine…..

Mark Epstein could have his brother’s body exhumed at ANY TIME and have the same independent medical examiner he had observing the autopsy do another examination of the body.
But all Mark wants to do is stoke conspiracy fires.
-
I just mean "conspiracy" in the sense that there is a group of people who know the truth and they have covered it up from the general public on a very large and public matter.
Even if it was "just" a case of "letting" him do it himself. That's still a huge miscarriage of justice.
The fact that he made that strange phone call to "his mom" (his mom is dead) the night before makes this seem possible ... who did he call?
A prison doesn't have phone records???
@futurebird Yes. I'm saying this would fall into the territory of "believable" to me. It's not fantastical, nor does it go against prevailing sociological patterns.

@mhoye @nobody @futurebird What? Where do you see that?
Only one drive of 16 was working? So 15 had failed? And then they replaced "both"? What am I missing? I don't see how that math works lol

I find this shocking:
In the recent file release we have new documents that show that the prison footage of Epstein's cell was deleted by an FBI agent who was advised (or someone was advised) that this action would delete the footage.
...
OK. Sure. Great. Wonderful. Makes total sense.
This has not gotten much traction and it's making me feel a little like a crazy person.
Is anyone going to ask why the FBI deleted this footage?
@futurebird
I'd say someone is sitting on those harddrives... -
@futurebird
I'd say someone is sitting on those harddrives...If they contain nothing that contradicts the official story... why sit on them.
If they contain evidence that contradicts the story? Why keep them?
I think they have been destroyed.

@mhoye @futurebird@nobody @mhoye @futurebird Ah, that wasn't in the thread so I had to open the top post in my browser to find it.
Still confused on the math though. And this doc calls it an "NP-2000" but when I put that into a search engine I get zero results. And without the hyphen all I get is an NEC projector. Maybe it's the Nicevision Pro NVR-2000? But that only supports 6 drives according to the spec sheet, although probably using the iSCSI interface so that might not matter. The PDF also refers to a "Dell Powerridge R420" but there is no such thing as a "Dell Powerridge", it's PowerEDGE...so this PDF has a lot of errors to begin with. I assume the "Premium 8600" is an Arena Maxtronic Premium 8600, super old but that probably makes sense.
But even if there were 16 drives present that doesn't necessarily mean all 16 were in use and part of the same RAID array. Could be hot spares, could be a separate array maybe, could just be off. And given the other errors on this doc and considering it doesn't detail the drives themselves I wouldn't be surprised if "containing 16 drives" just refers to it having 16 bays -- the Arena model mentioned above supports 16 but can operate with as few as 2.
Again, if it's got 16 drives, how was only one of those drives operational and how did replacing only two fix it? Admittedly I'm no expert in these systems but none of this information seems to fit together properly to me. And there are pretty obvious errors in the inventory list.

Did you see this ?
Wherein people found that by changing the extensions of released files unreleased information could be found?
Particularly some of the links in the now heavily censored reddit thread which are to footage in the prison from which only screenshots were officially released.

The FBI routinely conspires to protect powerful people. That's what it's for.
This doesn't get much traction because everyone already knows that the FBI does this. Look at pretty much any previous FBI case connected to politics.

Rich you know this. I know this, but I don't think "everyone" knows this nor do I think it's not what your typical person would find... boring. No. Not at all.

The one uniting principle amongst Americans is being anti-corruption. This is so corrupt, it stinks to high heaven!

I find the theory that Epstein is still alive deeply annoying and I kind of struggle to explain why?
Maybe it's because it makes *me* feel silly:I want to think that *my* skepticism is... mostly reasonable. Informed even? IDK.
But also, I just don't think it would happen. He was a very useful and connected person, but no one cared enough to go through all the work and danger of "getting him out" Why?
Even Epstein was disposable to these people.

That said this that thing they have blocking the view is... it's just another odd thing that I do not like. The stuff this guy found is interesting.

He’s been going on shows and showing autopsy photos of his brother that don’t add up to the official story and making a fuss about it when he (as the only person who knows where his brother is buried) could have the body exhumed and re-examined at any time.

Agreed, I see no evidence for the still alive thing, but there is at least circumstantial evidence for the murder hypothesis.

My annoyance with it goes deeper than the lack of evidence. Normally when you have a company or the government acting shady like this. I'm rather patient with the theories that grow to fill the gap. They earned it.
But the idea that's "Epstein is alive" is just so detached from how any of this could possibly work ... it's TV series thinking.
*Who* would want to keep him alive? Isn't the whole point that there were so many who wanted him gone?

Which begs the question of who may wish to promote irrational hypotheses. It's Q-Anon territory. Distraction.

@futurebird They're all disposable to each other, all in a giant game of insecurity and status that drives them insane. None of them can sit quietly, by themselves, thinking, and just be ok, much less happy.

I thought you were implying that he doesn't want to investigate further. Has he said he's opposed to doing it?
I would imagine he might have some mixed feelings about the guy. He might also be scared of the people who could have killed him?
Exhuming is expensive. Who would pay for it? He has a medical examiner but unless he plans on suing the government what is the point?
