I set a goal a couple years back that I’m going to figure out latte art. The only catch was that I was starting from zero (couldn’t even pull a shot) and without an espresso machine at home, my only chance to practice was a few times a year when I’m in the office.
Fast forward to today and no, I’m not there yet, but I’m starting to see the finish line.

@daveshea Chances are you’re over frothing the milk near the top of the milk surface. It’s actually a lot less time at that high point in the milk than you’d think it is. Lay a little (emphasis on little) base of milk initially, and then gently lay the milk design on top as it fills. Easier said than done – coming from 7.5 years of experience. You got this!

@thecriterion i can tell it’s a feel thing, and I don’t have the feel. Just trying to brute force it with lots of Youtube and a very limited trial and error feedback loop.

@daveshea awesome! A trick I saw was clanging the steamed pitcher on the counter to settle foam a bit.

@Luke that one I do know! A bit of swirl and a sharp tap or two, also swirling the shot in the mug before pouring the milk.
