@tantramar I mean, everyone starts somewhere 😅 That's why I approve my followers now. I usually give them a day to add a bio/picture or post something

@stephanie @tantramar I almost never approve follows if the person has no info in their bio. They can come find me again later once they’ve made at least some effort.
Putting my account on lock was one of the best things I did and I can’t believe I waited nearly 2 years before I did it 😄 -

@stephanie @stephaniepixie The Discourse community software (https://www.discourse.org by @codinghorror) has a brilliant system whereby a new user acquires privileges by participating in discussions — liking/following/posting/getting liked & followed, etc. It really keeps spam at bay and seems like a model worth following. This has been figured out, largely, and doesn’t offload the effort to individuals.
