I'm British, white, male, aged 60-ish.
Prior to February 2016 I typically visited the USA 3 times a year for up to six weeks.
Since February 2016 I have visited the USA twice in a decade, for a total of 10 days.
Entering the USA as a foreigner, with a Republican POTUS in the White House, *never* felt safe, but under Trump it looks diabolically dangerous. (And to a glance I resemble "one of them": I'm not female or dark-skinned.)
@cstross @briankrebs Honestly even returning from international travel as a US citizen doesn’t feel safe if you don’t check the right boxes in your personal profile. If I absolutely had to enter the US right now I’d pre-clear in somewhere like Dublin, but the whole thing feels like a crapshoot.

Examples for this one could be harm to business with partners from GDPR countries. Harm to your Airbnb business. Alienation from your personal friends and family abroad. ANY U.S. house representative or senator also needs to be voted out in the midterms (if they are up for reelection) if they do not side with the will of the people to impeach. And anyone still in office needs to be censored for not voting to impeach.

Going on an international trip. I am downloading all the case law I can find about AI and copyright law so I can give the most informed take I can about "how does generative AI affect FOSS projects going forward?"
I'm going to focus on US case law first, including reading the recent high profile case that the US Supreme Court declined, but also the US Copyright Office's current analysis.
This is important, I think, because right now FOSS projects are moving fast to incorporate, but without anyone really knowing what the outcome will be, there's a great chance that, even on licensing grounds alone, we could be creating a huge mess for FOSS projects.
And (unfortunately?) my background in having done FOSS licensing stuff previously as part of my dayjob might mean I can do a pretty good job summarizing. Let's see!
If you have case law you think I should read, put it in this thread.
