#AudioEngineer I have the weirdest situation. I use an UMC1820 with a Focusrite Octopre MKII Dynamic.
Both worked together under Linux, until they didn't: The Locked light wasn't shining anymore and no signal came from the pre.
I connected the interface to a Win PC, also, no Locked LED and no sound from the pre.
But: When I set the Focusrite to Internal clock and the UMC to OpticalIn so that the pre gives the clock to the UMC, then the devices are locked and I get sound from the pre to my DAW.
#HomeStudio #BedroomProducer #Homerecording #ReaperDAW #Recording #Focusrite #Behringer@dereisenhofer@metalhead.club I dunno if this is a thing on linux and your setup but did something change your sample rate or bit depth? I only have a Steinberg 816C but that thing disables the channels coming via ADAT if it's set on higher sample rates.

@Drayventhal I quadruple checked the sample rate. I have not thought about bit though, I'll look into it.

#HomeStudio #BedroomProducer #Homerecording #ReaperDAW #Recording #Focusrite #Behringer@dereisenhofer Skimming the manual for the Octopre indicates that it should be set as clock master when using ADAT connections (that is, its clock source set to INTERNAL), the way you currently have it working. It would not be possible to set it as a slave without a Wordclock signal, which the UMC does not supply.

@Bitstreem @dereisenhofer https://www.manualslib.de/manual/1510/Focusrite-Octopre-Mkii-Dynamic.html?page=9 Could be something with the UMC ... they are ... something ;-) I have the small UMC :-), but for ADAT I can highlight the RME Digiface. works like a charm and no surprises

@totenlegionChris @Bitstreem Aw man I mixed that all up yesterday. In fact I don't get signal from the pre to my DAW when the Octopre is clock source. So it seems the clock is working with the UMC, but no sound does arrive. This is what confuses me.

@dereisenhofer @Bitstreem I think an on site session would be the fastest one ;-), for the time being have a look here: https://gearspace.com/board/audio-student-engineering-production-question-zone/1317417-help-configuring-behringer-umc-1820-focusrite-platinum-octopre-via-adat.html

@totenlegionChris Sorry for the confusion ... I had it right yesterday. This issue is driving me nuts.
I'll check the link.

@totenlegionChris @dereisenhofer Ah, ok. So that's a different issue then. Then the link to the Gearspace thread might be helpful. You didn't mention whether you have the Claret or Scarlet Octopre?

@dereisenhofer @totenlegionChris I agree on site support would be ideal here, but I'm not sure if @dereisenhofer's budget would cover flying me in from Norway (not making light of the situation here, just some dry humor). 😉

@Bitstreem @dereisenhofer but hey this would be a purpose for the travel :-) ... ADAT and WC/Clock is Voodoo :-) I had the same issues exept I am using for reasons the Saphire Pro 40 ... and guess what ADAT is also not sooo easy in this setup.

@dereisenhofer @totenlegionChris I'm not afraid to admit I'm old enough to have worked on actual Alesis ADAT recorders back in the day. Wordclock was (often) voodoo back then as well. 😅
