I'd also recommend a bigger battery and swapping out the hard drive for an iFlash if you haven't already done that

@CathyBikesBook That's what I did after reading your blog post. Didn't get the iFlash, but otherwise same setup. I need to find a better set of earbuds, the old pair I found don't control volume or pause.

Well, probably.

iFixit Canada does not have the parts. And they are apparently not sourcing from the USA right now.

So chasing down other sources. (Also, it turns out to be a Gen3)

Got the larger SD set up with almost 500 songs copied over. I put it back together and put it on shuffle play. It has been running for 13+ hours and still half the battery left. Backlight turns off after 5 seconds.
The one mod I'd like is to replace the 30 pin connector(!) with USB-C.
