I hiked a large sand dune for the first time yesterday. What a unique experience! Quite a slog, hiking straight up the side to reach the ridge. A surprise with the challenge of walking the ridge— didn’t expect it to be so sharp. The drop-off on each side looked steeper/scarier than it actually was. A fun time! Bruneau Sand Dunes (Idaho)— 470 feet (143m) base-to-peak elevation change. #MountainMonday #hiking #nature

This interesting pattern of mini “landslides” of sand was prevalent along the ridge of the sand dune that I hiked earlier this week. This is a view from the ridge of the dune looking straight down the steep incline. “Streams” of sand would begin flowing down the slope once a hiker disturbed the sand while walking on the ridge. #TextureTuesday #nature #photography

As I head home from Idaho today, I am reflecting on the wonderful visit I had with my family members. While much of the time was spent visiting in their house, several of us also had fun outside adventures together, building new memories. The hike on this dune will remain a standout of the trip, enjoying a special geological feature. See how my head is down, focusing on footing on the ridge. #FootpathFriday #hiking #nature

No, sulla torta della nonna: faccio un impasto con più o meno 500 grammi di farina, una bustina di lievito, mezzo bicchiere di olio, tre uova e 150 grammi di zucchero, e aggiungo latte fin che non ha la consistenza giusta (pastella non troppo liquida).
Se li ho metto anche uvetta e pinoli e un po' di rum.
Verso nella teglia imburrata e infarinata e metto sopra le fettine di mele, in verticale, in modo che una parte della fetta affondi nell'impasto. Poi spolvero di zucchrro di canna e metto in forno per 35/40 minuti.
L'apple pie non l'ho mai fatta, proprio perché mi spaventa un po' la sovrabbondanza di burro.
