@mwl I got the DarkVisitors plugin to forbid the ones that didn’t obey my robots txt file, and repeated offenders get a user agent block at my firewall level.

@mwl Doesn’t catch EVERYTHING, but makes a dent. The “you may be missing out on that traffic!” Is a new addition to the DarkVisitors/KnownAgents page where it shows what the plugin is blocking.

@mwl Keep in mind it’s Wordpress, plus I had to give DarkVisitors payment info, BUT at time of this writing the payment only kicks in at over a million hits and fortunately I’m well below that, even with “AI” bots desperate to get at my blog.

@mwl Unpaid, the information about bots and user agent strings is still useful for manually configuring my firewall. But that’s labour-intensive and I’d rather be writing so I decided I might as well take advantage of the plugin’s “paid” option until enshittifcation and the threshold for actual charges lowers.
