This is the overview article I needed on Typst. It concisely explains how the document preparation system works, in what it differs from LaTeX, and why it may be a suitable replacement for LaTeX.
A few years ago, my team developed a LaTeX editor for iOS, specially for maths teachers who do not know LaTeX. It is still widely used by maths teachers who create content for one of the US publishing houses. Perhaps the problem is not TeX but the editors? No one writes plain PDF or PS, but everyone uses them.
Still the best Sci editor app I’ve ever used was the FrameMaker for NeXTStep. Perhaps we should focus our efforts in this direction?

@tuparev Power users probably prefer directly typing code in a formatting language as WYSIWYG editors introduce friction.

@andre123 se è vero made in Italy, costa. Ma ciò significa che invece che farsi sacchettate di stracci usa e getta, si dovrebbe acquistare un solo pezzo che dura negli anni. A me spiace davvero dirlo, a parte poche eccezioni, gli italiani ci hanno consegnato robe che abbiamo rimandato indietro per la bruttezza delle cuciture. Con i Jap, questo non ci succede.

@ro domanda visto che ne sai…. Ma la fascia di prezzo “media” (buona qualità dei materiali/fattura) senza andar nel lusso, nella “moda” ecc. vive ancora ? La ditta italiana che ti fa maglioni di buona qualità, che strizzano l’occhio alle tendenze attuali magari, a un prezzo che non è Armani ma neppure Shein ? Roba che non sarà alta moda ma che è “bella” e dura nel tempo mantenendosi bene ?

@lorcon per cui aggiungo che quella che dici essere una spinta allo stato unitario proveniente dall'estero mi sa che ha anche una buona base di consenso tra la maggioranza della popolazione siriana, il cui slogan durante la guerra civile é stato "uno uno é il popolo siriano"

@andre123 è un po' generalizzato. A fasce prezzo basse subiscono l'effetto di Temu e Shein. A fasce di prezzo lusso subiscono il danno d'immagine delle indagini sulle catene produttive. Mettiamoci dentro instabilità economica e guerre... e siamo fritti.
