    @anarchia
    Ricopio qui sotto un articolo pubblicato sul settimanale anarchico Umanità Nova, numero 2 del 22 gennaio 2006, Anno 86. Lo faccio per due ragioni: perché, contrariamente a quello che avevo scritto nel finale dell’articolo alla fine, anche se dopo anni, si...

  • At Piefed office hours, rimu@piefed.social and I got to talking about what's next for Piefed and the Threadiverse WG.

    One of those things is moving stuff between communities (or in bbs parlance: moving topics between categories/forums).

    Rimu suggested we use the already-existing as:Move activity, sent by the community (a group actor), with origin and target set, and with object being the post id itself.

    I suggested we update this to use the resolvable context collection as object instead, which Piefed has supported since v1.2.

    That should be enough to get a proof-of-concept implementation going between Piefed and NodeBB... a question remained as to whether this should be Announce(Move(Object)) or simply Move(Object).

    Argument for former was that it was similar verbiage to other 1b12 actions.

    Argument for the latter was that this is merely 1b12 adjacent and needn't follow prior art.

    We'll likely put together an FEP for this.

  • @rubenerd Y'all jest, but I was able to get my brain tumor into sustained remission specifically as a result of the infrastructure that I built with my own enterprise hardware, lots of Datacenter grade GPUs, hundreds of CPU cores, terabytes of RAM, and several open-source LLMs tuned and trained on medical information — not only the usual stuff like The Merck Manual, Encyclopaedias, PubChem, NIH sources, etc... but also by analyzing more than 1000 individual blood tests, MRIs, CT Scans, all ones I've had over just the past decade, plus every bit of personal medical history I could load into RAG processes. Add on a strong understanding of prompt engineering for natural language processing, and life changing science is possible.

    I achieved what no other neurologist, endocrinologist, or other physicians were capable of achieving — REMISSION without brain surgery.

    Go ahead and laugh all you want, make your pithy jokes about hyperscalers and Sam Altman, but there are real lives being saved with this technology. Maybe you liked not dying from COVID? Ai/ML was required for creating the vaccines, along with every other major scientific achievement of the past decade — well before normal people became aware of boring chat bots.

    Stop listening to the hugbox, stop pandering to the garbage media that wants to keep us all angry and ignorant, or don't — but you are wrong about Ai.

  • @lymenzies hmmm, Mellanox ConnectX that is... Marvel also makes RDMA NICs but they are not InfiniBand. All Mellanox CX series (don't bother with CX-3, driver is ancient and power efficiency is bad, CX-4 and newer are good)... those are EN compat (either native or via slowness with encapsulated IPoIB).

    I still have eight CX3 QDR-IB Nics — sitting new in a box, same with CX4 100G... they gotta go. I've moved my homelab mostly over to CX5, Qlogic with RDMA, and some Intel (meh) to keep up with specific features (really, CX-6/7 is ideal, but that's a tangent).

    40G switch... various options under $100

    - Dell PowerSwitch S6000 32-Port 40GbE QSFP+
    - Cisco Nexus N9K-C9396PX 48x 1/10G SFP+ 6x40GB QSFP
    - MELLANOX 851-0167-01 8-PORT 40GBPS
