it is not unlikely the 32A breaker on the ring final circuit (used for the UK sockets) opens before the plug top fuse, and if its RCD protected it will definitely open (often putting the building in darkness if the RCD is not part of the 32A breaker or its not a split board with two incomers and lighting circuits on a different one)
@hans_zelf @nomenloony @cyplo @vfrmedia If you managed to connect that, it would blow something, rapido. If there's no circuit breaker, my guess is the ring fuse and I've seen cases where the company fuse blows as well!

@hans_zelf @cyplo breakers operate quicker than fuses, so often the breaker will trip but the fuse will be fine. It's not the case if you've got an old BS-88 fusebox though with the rewireable fuses and wire.

I’ve been using it professionally for the last 6 weeks or so to “yolo” an app in work. Using Claude but I guess I’m spending 30-40% of my time cleaning up the code out generates.

@nomenloony I work in a high school and have a wired plug with every mistake I could think of as a demo, "find the problems". It's kept in a locked box, and has the earth pin twisted so it can't easily be used, because it's fucking lethal.

OLD UK was
Live = Red
Neutral = BlackOld AC/DC Radios & TVs had chassis to Neutral (Maybe) and no Earth. All external metal was isolated.
USA was
Live = Black
Neutral = White
During 1940s USA radios were imported that had a dropper in the mains cord to reduce 240V to 110V. They might have had a capacitor from mains (maybe neutral or live) to metal work and / or chassis. Rated for 110V not 240V mains.

Windscribe ha denunciato pubblicamente il sequestro di uno dei suoi server VPN da parte delle autorità olandesi. L’azienda ha rivelato l’episodio su X (ex Twitter), precisando che il prelievo è avvenuto senza alcun mandato e che il server verrà restituito solo dopo una “analisi completa”.
Al di là del comunicato social, al momento non ci sono ulteriori dettagli ufficiali sull’accaduto. Windscribe ha però voluto rassicurare gli utenti spiegando che i suoi server usano solo memoria RAM senza disco fisso, il che significa che le autorità troveranno solamente un’installazione standard di Ubuntu senza informazioni persistenti. Ogni volta che un server viene riavviato, infatti, tutti i dati in memoria RAM vengono persi.
Il punto più delicato della vicenda riguarda proprio la modalità del sequestro. Prelevare server senza un mandato solleva questioni importanti sulla tutela della privacy e sui limiti dell’azione delle autorità. Per un servizio VPN che promette anonimato e protezione dei dati, episodi di questo tipo rischiano di minare la fiducia degli utenti, anche quando l’architettura tecnica è progettata per non conservare informazioni sensibili.
