Is the #SNCF mandatory luggage tagging in force also on the Cuneo–Ventimiglia line?

Is the #SNCF mandatory luggage tagging in force also on the Cuneo–Ventimiglia line? Do they offer paper tags in Cuneo? Wouldn't want to be fined...

@tml This is Trenitalia. You won’t even be fined if you don’t have a ticket.

@wrzlbrnft @partim Can you travel across France using #interrail using only regional services without reservation (and without luggage tagging, haha)? It should be possible, I think? (Ditto for Spain: Nope, right? For example Sweden: Maybe, except for the Kiruna–Narvik bit.)
Whether it is worth it (for France) is another question, if you don't have plans to stay for a longer time anyway. Just using a couple of TGVs you get across the country (Spanish border to Belgium or Germany) in like eight hours I think.)

@tml @wrzlbrnft This is what I am doing. I used a TGV once from Marseille to Lyon because I had to get to Switzerland quickly to work around a strike the next day – and regretted it already when waiting for the barriers to open.
It obviously takes much longer but you get to spend time in small French cities you’ve never heard of but which inevitably turn out to be lovely and nearly entirely devoid of mass tourism.
In most cases, the hours long transfer time ends up being too short if you just force yourself to leave the station and explore. (In a way, the Youtube series is a ploy to trick myself into always doing that.)
