Let's climb a mountain! This is the entrance of the 碧桐道 trail, leading to the top of Mount Wutong.

At ~1000 m height, Mount Wutong is the highest mountain in Shenzhen, China.
I think the way up will be mostly... stairs.

So we don’t have to do it. -

Passed this refilling station, where you can grab a bottle of water or a snack and pay via QR code!

@blinry take care of scams & check there isnt a QR code added on top of the original (someone stealing the income)

Made it to the top, in a bit under 2 hours.
Hiked the last few meters together with this person, who really wanted to take a selfie with a foreigner! ;)

On the ascent, I got to practice my nǐhǎo a lot, the trail was somewhat busy!
People seem surprised, but happy, when I try. And then often respond something I don't understand. 😬 Maybe meaning "good luck, you can do it"?
And I got an English "Welcome to China!" :P

@freedomtux @blinry and how would you verify this? A scammer didn’t need to stick a QR code on top but could simply swap the cards. (And would also probably disclose their identity by doing that)

@blinry Oof. But surely a breathtaking path as well. You didn’t count the stairs I guess 😅

@blinry they probably look confused because Shenzhen doesn't have a lot of white people, let alone white people who bother learning any Chinese. Could you attempt to romanize what they say back to you? I speak a bit and my wife speaks more (we currently live in China for work) so I might be able to tell you what they're saying.

@blinry the guardrails whisper 'Riven' to me a little.
