;p

@skippingmoonrocks I like to think I would at least outrank *spins the mental wheel of most deeply cursed choices* Ricky Gervais.

@Alexis Billie Piper, they're overthinking it.

@kurt Honestly, yeah, three seasons of Billie Piper as Dr Who has the very real possibility to be /amazing/. (If they don't find anyone, we might still get there.)

@Alexis @skippingmoonrocks That is the most cursed choice I could imagine.
I always wanted to see Patterson Joseph as the Doctor.
Given there are apparently multiple different scripts for the Christmas episode and they haven't even got production started yet and don't even have a Doctor. This is looking like a train wreck.

@retrosponge @skippingmoonrocks We may genuinely be in the show's darkest hour of the modern age — no Doctor, showrunner probably out, stuck in a funding deal that clearly doesn't have a future, left on a cliffhanger everyone but me rolled their eyes at.
(It's clearly not what's happening, but I think a few seasons of Billie Piper as Dr Who could be amazing.)
But I'm optimistic about the future, because unlike in the 80s, the BBC is at least fully invested in wanting to make the show.

@Alexis @skippingmoonrocks I actually liked the ending, I thought it was a really good twist.
And yes, it's dark times, but at least Michael Grade isn't around.

@retrosponge @skippingmoonrocks Whatever is going on there, I know I'm gonna have fun finding out.
Absolutely. I'm always saying that, even when it's not about Doctor Who.

@Alexis @skippingmoonrocks Michael Grade was an asshole. He was an asshole at the BBC and he was an asshole when he went to channel 4.
At least Chris Morris called him a rude word in Brass Eye 😂
Anyway, I should probably sleep since the clock just went forward and it's 3am.

@retrosponge @skippingmoonrocks Yeah, go to bed! The show will still be in peril (because they haven't cast me yet) when you wake up!
(Wait, the clocks? Oh, right, not until the end of the month for us.)

@Alexis @skippingmoonrocks Yeah, this is also the last time we're doing it as well because BC is dropping the whole thing so the clocks go forward and they're staying there.
This is going to make things very confusing with regards to remembering what time zones friends are in.

@retrosponge @Alexis it was a pleasant confusion to watch doctor who this morning (a rare treat for me) and then pausing the episode, glance at mastodon, and find a whole doctor who related conversation happening in my mentions :)
excellent timing! -
