That is correct. It had never occured to me, but I suppose it'd be because I consume content mostly in English.

Frankly, with Brazilians behaving as we do, at best it'll bring a wave of people to the fediverse once someone catches onto that. At worst, it still won't be as big as the qoo debacle.

The social network qoo is pronounced as the Portuguese word for a**hole. When they came to Brazil (whatever that means for a social network) they got such a huge wave of signups that they decided to invest heavily here. Than it all died down rather quickly since people signed up for the meme.
