  • That's kind of you to say, @evan . I'm still somewhat concerned people will think I'm spamming the timeline.

@pluralistic does it and people don't mind; but I'm not the same kind of writer.

Really, this ought to be a blog post, not a thread; I should really reactivate my blog.

  • @mcc@mastodon.social absolutely — they just look nicer that way.

  • That said, about 13% of delegates voted non-confidence, so support is
not unanimous. I ran into delegates who lamented that people they knew who'd
always supported the Conservatives wouldn't vote for the party with
    Mr. Poilievre as leader.

  • 5. Pierre Poilievre. Members of the CPC like him personally, like where he
stands on issues, like the way he's a fighter, like the way he's brought new
support into the party. I ran into one guy who said that he'd be another
Robert Stanfield, someone who'd be an excellent PM but who would never win.
But I didn't run into anyone who'd admit to opposing Mr. Poilievre; there was
no one organising against him; there were not even anti-Poilievre buttons
    around.

  • I did bring up Pres. Trump a few times,
and when I did so, the response I received was that he was doing crazy things
and that he was bad for our electoral chances. But people weren't really
talking about Pres. Trump one way or another, so I can't claim to know that
    that was the general feeling.

  • 4. Trumpiness. The party struck me as essentially the same as it was twenty-five
years ago: same sort of spirit, same sort of issues, even many of the same
individuals (I ran into people who fought in the Clark-Mulroney struggle). I
have to say that there wasn't much discussion of Canada-US issues; mostly I
talked about domestic policy (the CBC! Zoning!) or current regional/national
    politics (John Rustad was terrible!).

I'm #colorblind and I use https://xkcd.com/color/rgb/ frequently.Randall 'xkcd' Monroe did a survey of over 100,000 readers where he showed them random rgb colors and said "what would you call this?" and afterwards he did his best to sort the results into the most popular color names and the colors they refer to.It's like a box of Crayola for the internet. Finally, my colorblind self can grab a sample of "dark magenta" that doesn't just look like "grape purple" to everyone else. The data is freely available as a .txt file under CC0, which I've converted into a .css file here: https://git.hatspace.net/nycki/nycki.net/src/branch/main/static/xkcd.cssso now when I want a color on my website I can just write `color: var(--xkcd-off-white)` or so on. it's really convenient :)#programming #color #css #website

Perhaps this is why?> AI Agents Are Mathematically Incapable of Doing Functional Work, Paper Finds. https://futurism.com/artificial-intelligence/ai-agents-incapable-math> "Ignore the rhetoric that tech CEOs spew onstage and pay attention to what the researchers that work for them are finding, and you’ll find that even the AI industry agrees that the tech has some fundamental limitations baked into its architecture."NOTE: This continues the bad practice of referring to 'generative AI' as 'AI'. Not all AI is LLMs…#AI #science

In 2025 AI still requires you to watch it do it's work and catch it early before it goes fully off the rails, like driving a Tesla. That's impossible in the github UI. It doesn't help that the MS engineers are shit a prompting ("tests are failing, please fix" is way way too vague) but the whole idea of doing it through github is doomed from the start.
