@Lazarou bloody hell, I guess it's possible they somehow knocked one of those emergency escape pegs some bus windows have but if not no this really shouldn't happen! Glad they weren't seriously injured though, and once the shock wears off they're set with an amazing story for life

@Lazarou surprisingly yes: as a safety measures some of the bus windows are designed to fail rapidly because they are the escape route for emergency evacuations. Which and how many and how to force them open depends on the bus design though and I don't know if that particular window of that particular bus failed because of that though.

Is the PDF viewer on the ACM DL wrong, or does the original QuickCheck paper
have terrible kerning? https://dl.acm.org/doi/epdf/10.1145/351240.351266 Downloading the PDF from the ACM DL also results in a PDF with visual artifacts and overlapping letters, but this one is fine: https://www.cs.tufts.edu/~nr/cs257/archive/john-hughes/quick.pdf Has the ACM DL started passing PDFs through some buggy filter?

It's only been 6 since I left Nashville and I couldn't answer for there now either, though I suspect Al is still there.
