Think about it this way... I go to great lengths to NOT keep a history of my activities on my phone. No Activity history, no search history... I consider myself to be pretty "off-grid" when it comes to keeping records.
Now... If this was me:
Shut the fuck up, don't open the door.
B: I would not have the available "evidence" to prove I was not in an area at a time. I would need to rely on my own home cams to show I never left, or my destination cameras to show that I was in their store at a day/time. And most commercial orgs don't like giving you (a civilian) footage w/o a warrant. (They'll bend over for cops all day however)
So, my lack of "evidence" is now not enough to refute the cops "fabricated" "evidence"?
Shit is fucked yo.
@kajer dont answer the door, wait for them to bring suit, let their suit die due to lack of sufficient evidence, countersue for 20 million, make it huge and public, include ring and flock in the suit. if you get a payout, never work again, and ideally it'll act as a deterrent for other bullshits of the same flavor

@Viss oh look, the inevitable outcome of building a mass surveillance network and giving access to people whose job it is to close cases not solve them.

@Viss Big Gemini is watching you...
-
@Viss Surely the ever-benevolent OpenAI will stick to their founding principles and ensure this technology doesn't end up in the hands of a couple of corporations!
-
@Viss I don't know why, but this conjures up the image of Total Recall with the exploding head... Siri being outside, and Gemini being inside, and I do expect Siri to make those noises when Gemini breaks out.

@Viss Thank you @microsoft❗
-
@Viss I’m pretty sure that was the Steam Hardware Survey. Different statistic
-
@Viss Thank you @microsoft❗
@catsalad @Viss @microsoft saw this and my heart skipped a beat cuz I thought something broke again.
-
is that all coming out of windoze folks who have finally had enough?
-
@Viss I’m pretty sure that was the Steam Hardware Survey. Different statistic
@indigoviolet @Viss yeah cloudflare data says about 1% point increase over a year ago but actual peak was at 6.5% of April this year
-
@Viss 2 weeks ago our household went from 2x Win11 machines, 2x Win10 machines to 2x Win11 machines, 2x Linux machines (ignoring work laptops). We can't be that unusual.
-
@Viss Thank you @microsoft❗
@catsalad @microsoft yeah killing off windows 10 was the push everyone needed, seems like

@paul_ipv6 possibly, yeah

@Viss only compare numbers of the same source, they differ strongly in how their measure it.
Linux finally crossed 3% (and still is) in the Steam Hardware survey https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey they only include Steam users, so gamers. The Steam Hardware Survey is also slightly boosted by Steams own product, the SteamDeck.Cloudflare measures http requests, it might also be that Linux users are more chronically online than windows users and therefore send more requests which would lead to overcounting

@Viss Linux is growing, which is awesome, just not by 2x

copilot. recall. ads in the startup menu. the gaff with updates and empty folder. just throwing windows 10 users under the bus to get windows 11 adoption. only performative GDPR compliance.
you screw over your customers and ignore their needs for your own agenda long enough, even captive audiences will look elsewhere.

@Viss Well it's Cloudflare so that has to be taken with a grain of salt. They are referring to the traffic they see, which is just a selected small part of the overall web traffic. That's why they severely underestimate the amount of Linux users.
