@lemgandi @raiderrobert Many developers probably shouldn't be managers. We focus too much on our style preferences, like more/less code vs. team cohesion and consensus or even code maintainability. We do this even as we lose more and more touch with the actual practice of coding.

Some of us should just stick to the consensus battle and not get to thinking we have to be all authoritative and tell people to go delete 90% of the code they just wrote.

I remember one of my early 2000s contracts at which I assiduously added comments into some Powerbuilder code and reposted to the code repository.

My (employee) manager looked at and told me the next day, "Delete all that f*cking shit. We don't need it."

I left after 6 months, never to return, even though they wanted to extend my contract. 😇
