After years of urging, I finally got us a new heated mattress pad. This one is modern, featuring separate upper and lower zones, plus a shutoff timer. Fancy!
Except one of the controls doesn’t turn on two of the LCD segments (top, upper left), so this is what 2, 3, and 5 look like.
I opened it up, thinking there'd be a bad solder joint, but everything looks good. Wiggling and tapping things didn’t reveal anything intermittent.
Could go through the process of returning and replacing it, but what a pain. I can read this just fine. “;^)

#electronicsFor a stubbornness reference, in the 80’s I moved into an apartment and my electric clock ran backwards when I plugged it in. Rather than try to get it going the right direction I learned how to read it.

@Uilebheist@polyglot.city l'altro giorno m'è capitato di dover andare in un negozio di cose per la casa, alla cassa c'erano tre piccoli cani che facevano casino, un'umana molto piccola che strillava a ripetizione "la zia è brutta, la zia è molto brutta" e quando alla fine stava per arrivare il mio turno s'è bloccato tutto perché la signora prima di me aveva una scatola di qualcosa a cui mancava il codice a barre.
Che brutta roba i supermercati e affini.

In 1873, the USA introduced the Comstock laws, thus rendering it illegal to advertise and sell contraceptives in the country. While these laws were incredibly damaging on the whole, we have to kind of agree in this one (1) instance of wholly cursed contraceptives.
