#AlexKarp, CEO of #Palantir:
-
"Palantir is here to disrupt and make these various institutions we partner with the very best in the world, and when it's necessary, to scare our enemies, and on occasion, kill them"
Our reality has become a bad #JamesBond movie plot
And why do these #techbros always look like they're on drugs?
#Techbro just gleefully talking murder. And it's presented cheerful and mundane. What a #dystopia we live in
@benroyce That is a disturbing video. He is most definitely hopped up on something chemical.
-
@benroyce i Need the source for the text plz.
what do you mean. that's what he says in the video
this is real video from an investor meeting
-
@benroyce He makes it sound the same way as I would say: "On occasion I'll bring you some cake and have a cup of tea."

I would love to see a body language expert break down this video.

look up #AlexKarp's background. it's unsettling
he has a Ph.D. in neoclassical social theory. his doctoral thesis was on aggression
so he's like a medical doctor who has studied a malignant disease... but to perfect it, extend it, worsen it
it's almost as if you're looking at a guy who is acting like this and saying these things as a distillation of a mode of behavior they know on an intimate academic level: psychopathy as an intellectual fetish, in order to become it!

@benroyce They look like 1960s Star Trek villains in athleisure vests. Same cheap set.
-
#AlexKarp's doctoral thesis in social theory from Goethe University Frankfurt in Germany in 2002 was called
"Aggression in der Lebenswelt: Die Erweiterung des Parsonsschen Konzepts der Aggression durch die Beschreibung des Zusammenhangs von Jargon, Aggression und Kultur"
("Aggression in the Lifeworld: The Extension of Parsons' Concept of Aggression by Describing the Connection Between Jargon, Aggression, and Culture")
to combat it, right?
nope
to refine it, become it
@benroyce @SilverOwl a paragraph in Section IV of that dissertation:
"... according to Adorno, there is a causal relationship between alogical argumentation and relief-provided that the argumentation is carried out at the expense of outsiders. ...the contradictions in [Martin Walser's Nobel speech disparaging Holocaust commemoration] changes little in its real significance... It retains its factualness because it relieves. That is its purpose; that is its cultural meaning."

i thought:
is this video #AI?
it's too glib, too cheerful
maybe it's absurd fictional satire a la "American Psycho"?
nope, it's real:

He looks like an evil corporate character being played by Taika Waititi...

what the fuck
we learn from the horrors of history to avoid mistakes
Karp learns from the horrors of history in order to perfect them and extend them
he's inverting the entire purpose of such academic examination
-
@benroyce How can someone, who supposedly prefers to surround himself with Europeans and speak German, be so stereotypically American? I'm almost convinced this is satire. Do they have "tech bro energy" seminars at their PR department?
Secondly, who are those "enemies" supposed to be? He is currently doing a remarkable job at supporting a fascist regime that is actively trying to destroy NATO and Western values.
@SilverOwl As a german descendent he for sure has a lot of knowledge about autocracy. He might not have read the last chapter of that book.

@benroyce Alex Karp is a mentally unstable tweaker that is clearly on some sort of substance. He's insane, and should have no part in control of any other human. I wish him well and hope he gets some form of treatment, and is removed from Palantir.

it's a nice wish. but no one is in a position to make that happen. in fact, our current govt wants to embrace his work

@benroyce A CEO full-on saying he kills people when necessary sure seems in search of his Mangione counterpart.

@benroyce little do they know murder goes both ways. These techbros live in a bubble that won’t protect them. They’re very naive, it’s like they think re-spawning is an option
