If you think "cis" is a slur:
Congratulations, you have let oil corporations poison your brain against Latin roots.
Transphobia is so silly. Most of it is rooted in ignorance on biology, sociology, and linguistics

@burnoutqueen They will never take Cisalpine Gaul away from me!

"these pronoun things are new"
I can easily disprove that by sharing a book about grammar from the 1950s.
"Transgender wasn't a thing until the 2010s"
Modern HRT was invented in the late 40s with the advent of synthetic estrogen. Additionally, the historical record has people in it who lived as women but were assigned male at birth.
I could do this all day

One of the first doctors to reconstruct veteran's penises after WW2 also worked on early phalloplasty procedures for transgender men.
Like, a good chunk of the modern reconstructive surgeries and hormones that cis people get due to injury or hypogonadism or whatever were also used on trans people as they came out.

Trans people are not new.
Gender dysphoria is not new.
Transition procedures are not terribly new either.Etc.

Really, it's a statistical inevitably that some people are trans.
Not everybody gets a brain that is normal for their assigned gender. That's just a part of the complexity of neurological development and sex differentiation. The brain differentiates after the genital tubercle differentiates.

My brain is personally different from the social norm in many ways. I have ADHD, and autism, and dyspraxia, etc.
I'm not shocked that the gender of my brain is divergent too.

If you took my brain outside of my body, and hooked it up to a supply of oxygenated nutritious blood and a computer terminal, I would be a girl because my personality is contained in my brain. My gender is in my neurons.
This body is simply the structure my brain uses to get around. I'm changing my body to provide a better environment for my brain.

@burnoutqueen it intuitively makes a lot of sense that these things cluster together. It's hard not to sound slightly ableist and transphobic to say it but, yeah, something probably went "off the rails" when my brain was developing. And it's weird to expect me to use my willpower to try to be cis. Even if you don't like trans people, it's just a huge *waste* to put my mental energy into that instead of literally anything else.

@thomasjwebb
My brain is not "off the rails", it just has a different set of strengths and weaknesses.I'm awkward in social interactions, have no balance, and can't really focus properly all the time, but I can tell you all about Unix like operating systems and get old devices working again
