@QasimRashid DHS will house prisoners there & the lack of water & sanitation won't stop them
@staringatclouds @QasimRashid that was my first thought đ˘

This is amazing. DHS bought a warehouse in a city called Social Circle, Georgia. When the city council asked DHS how they planned to use the warehouse, DHS refused to answer.
So, the city cut off water and sewer services and put a lock on the water meter, and said that services will remain off âuntil ICE indicates how water and sewer to the facility will be served without exceeding the limited infrastructure capacity.â
Outstanding. We need more of this! This is how we stop fascism.
@QasimRashid This is a genuinely fascinating story about federalism and local resistance.

@QasimRashid
This is how much of the French Resistance operated. Tie them down, become as bureaucratic as possible. It can save lives. Unfortunately, I don't think the US will be invaded to put down the regime... -

@QasimRashid
Unfortunately itâs quite possible theyâd just use the warehouse without serving water or removing sewer...@curiousicae @QasimRashid
Or re-cycle the sewage into drinking water, and truck away the sludge (which is the technical term, at least in the UK) for use (sale) as fertiliser.Très Soylent. Or ... isn't that how the Matrix started?

@staringatclouds @QasimRashid Staff has needs too
@martinvermeer @QasimRashid Staff can leave & find a restroom, carry drinks with them, go home

@QasimRashid I wish the Washington County Council in MD did this: instead they are happily letting DHS convert a warehouse in Hagerstown and lying to their constituents about it.

@blueorchestra Well, taking the edge off of capitalism seems to have worked pretty well for decades after WW2. If you can stop rich capitalist's influence on politicians without using violence, you might not even need violence at all.
(Fully agreed on the "play by the rules" part.)
@fennek And how do we stop the influence of capitalists on politicians when the politicians themselves are capitalists?
The ruling class gave us concessions during the Cold War to stave off the allure of socialist ideology. They then rescinded those same concessions when they got sick of them - even before the Cold War was over.
The system favors capitalists because it was designed by and for capitalists. There's no way to 'fix' that because it's a feature; not a bug. A system is what it does.
