Is there a Linux distro that only includes software made without AI assistance?
@evan not sure that’s gonna be a linux distro; i’ve more than once heard there’s llm code in there now but can’t verify

@squinky sure. I guess I meant, a distribution for people who don't want to use software developed with AI assistance.

@evan There was.

@lina right. One thing that Debian does, for example, is strip out parts of the kernel that don't meet its requirements for free software (especially binary blobs). I guess an AI-immaculate Linux distro would need to do something similar.

@evan There was.
@wcbdata what was it called?

@lina @evan Could try to fork Linux, but man that's a huge job, and since all the money is on the side of LLMs there won't be much financing for such an effort.
But I'm not sure it's harder than getting a new kernel to the same level of hardware support etc. as Linux. (Many lower-resourced alternate OSes seem to run great in virtual machines but aren't really functional on bare metal, so I think hardware support may be the hardest part.)
