I'm sure "supposed to do" is rhetorical, but it's just reminding me that the all-conquering ruling class wisdom is that thinking about externalities is a mug's game.

A party cannot win power when it does not reflect the priorities of the majority of its supporters. Democratic leaders must have a plan for Israel and Palestine that treats Palestinians as human beings with rights, and Israel as a country governed by international law. If we screw this up, we only have ourselves to blame.
