@geofftc I read a lot of books about naturalistic gardening, like from Noel Kingsbury, Piet Oudolf, and similar. But otherwise it is just planting as much as you can, plants that grow well in your area and are not too improved. I grow a lot of plants from seed as otherwise it would be too expensive. I also allow self-seeding of plants which fills any gaps. I do have some annuals and biennials which self-seed such as Nigella, poppies, Verbascum and Eryngium which move around every year.
