That remains significant even acknowledging web trust assumptions.Open-source clients and audits mitigate — imperfectly, but materially.

Their deployment/configuration tooling is heavily dependent on Debian/systemd, so I re-implemented it with a self-contained Chef cookbookit's fully compatible and about 95% identical. A few minor changes are made like keeping the scheduled maintenance jobs as crons as they migrated to systemd timers.https://github.com/feld/chatmail-cookbook
