@afewbugs There's been a good solution to this for 50 years:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddy_current_separatorThanks for sharing this tour!In my town, we have "separate stream" recycling; a town contractor empties our recycling wheelie bin, alternating between paper/cardboard and glass/metal/plastic weekly. We pay a separate local company to empty a 5-gallon bucket of food waste every week, which is then composted at local farms. They're a small business, and track how much waste we generate on their website. At the end of every summer, they deliver a large bag of garden compost to us.The remainder goes in a separate trash wheelie bin; because of the diversions above, we rarely generate more than one kitchen bag full per week. By diverting the food scraps, our garbage doesn't smell! My spouse did some work with a trash-to-energy plant in our state; they *loved* getting containers of kitchen grease and used cooking oil, because of the high BTU content. Keeping that out of the drains is critical, unless you want fatbergs.
