@pitrh Totally. And I know that I am sailing in unsupported waters, which is more than okay. There is a chance that we need to switch back to -current in the future, depending in the requirements if new Mastodon releases. And yeah, we do not have to switch to the newest branch, but I personally like having the latest and greatest available to our members.

@scarpentier@pataterie.ca the privacy reasons don't apply nearly as much when talking about emoji which are hosted by the instance. Using them doesn't leak your IP to anybody except the instance, which if you're using the emoji I'd assume you trust the instance you're on to not store IPs or use them maliciously. Linking to remote assets that anybody can specify, I do get the concern, even if I also think those concerns are overblown.
