#Wildflowers #NativePlants #IowaAnother walk over to the pond. If I keep this up, I can revive the #DailyWalk hashtag. In addition to the wildflowers by the pond and in the Hillside Prairie, I also saw frogs, damsel flies, monarch butterflies, and a great blue heron.

We've been 10 degress below average & now heading to possible 100 in a few days. The Halictus busy sharing space. The California poppies seem to always meet the need. Keep planting. Add to the refuge ribbons across the land.#bees #NativePlants
#EarthDay seems as good as any for planting some #NativePlants. I've got boneset, Joe Pye weed, wild strawberry, false sunflower, blackeyed Susan, blue vervain, a few more. I put them in pots in the spring and transplant to the ground in early summer. 🤞🏼🌱
@vicfroh It doesn't have to be all bad. We have a ¼ acre of lawn. We use no fertilizer, we don't water it - just let it go brown for a couple monthes in summer. We use a battery-powered mower in the mulching mode, recharged with green energy. It's great exercise! We have several bird species that love it, bees that make use of the clover and other blossoms and the occasional army of crows marching in formation as they eat the larvae we get every so often. Our dogs also love it as a playground.
Always wonderful to see the bees coming out. I paused in my killing of all the stink ant queens flying around to appreciate a little bee last Wednesday ♥
