@paavi @Niina I believe it was seen as a mark of (relative) poverty as well. A person who has no disposable income will not be able to afford too many pieces of clothing that work as business attire.Ergo, wearing the same clothes all the time is shameful because other people will think of you as poor and being poor is not desirable in a business context where only signalling success is cheered.(It's obviously all very unnecessary)
