@meanmicio Very nice, but one little thing, I found I needed to add this entry to /etc/rc.confcritical_filesystems_local="/var /usr"But that was on an older release,which I kept when I upgraded from #NetBSD 10.1 to 11.o. Did something change with #NetBSD 11.0 where that is not needed ?But will keep this for future reference!

@arosano Wails may be an option. It's doing the actual GUI aspects by launching the OS's WebView and doing JS, with a standard way to send events across the Go-WebView boundary. If you have the stomach for it. Gio is another popular-ish GUI framework. No idea if it works under BSD.

@meanmicio Realtek are renowned for requiring a lot of bending over backwards in drivers to make them work. It's a credit to NetBSD that they have kept up.

@evgandr @cybervegan @fullywoolly The other thing to remember is that these is BSD: options for some utilities (rm, cp, mv, ls, etc) are different from the Linux GNU.Once pkgin is installed, use that to install either sudo or doas: NetBSD does not have an equivalent in the base install AFAIK (su - root -c command works). I prefer doas since the configuration is minimal. Finally "man afterboot" is a good intro to the system. But read the NetBSD guide as well.

hopefully #NetBSD gets some fresh development in the days ahead. it would be nice to have even a basic Nvidia driver that supports my card (RTX 3070) because I don't think the available nouveau driver does. that puts me on #FreeBSD solidly for now, LLM sludge or not.
