To celebrate today, I am going to rec books authored by women, esp. LGBTQIA+ women, and because they are *so* often left out, our enby friends!
Some suggested fiction:
🔹️Sorrowland, Rivers Solomon. Imaginatively allegorical. There's nothing like this out there.
🔹️The Future of Another Timeline, Annalee Newitz. There are many time travel books, but none like this one. Also, check out both:
🔹️The Terraformers 🔹️Automatic Noodle especially if you are in need of hope for the future.🔹️All The Birds in the Sky, Charlie Jane Anders. Paradigm-shifting SFF emphasizing connection in a time of technology.
🔹️Monstrous: A Transracial Adoption Story, Sarah Myer. Essential genderqueer coming of age graphic novel.
🔹️I Keep my Exoskeletons to Myself, Marisa Crane. Not just a great title. This is whip-smart satire about othering.
🔹️The Book of Love, Kelly Link. Weird fantasy magic-fueled fiction at its finest. Also check out:
🔹️White Cat, Black Dog: Stories. Is contemporary fabulism a thing? If so, Link perfected it.🔹️In The Dream House, Carmen Maria Machado. Using every literary trope as a way to filter painful experiences? Pure genius.
Also, stories which examine how much pressure there is on women and girls to be thin:
🔹️They Don't Make Plus-sized Spacesuits, Ali Thompson
🔹️Starfish, Lisa Fipps
🔹️Milk fed, Melissa Broder
