Now that quote posts are a thing on Mastodon, we need an insufferably cutesy nickname for them that everyone hates but still gets used anyway.
To that end I nominate “Quoots”, a portmanteau of ‘quote’ and ‘toot’. I believe it’s the worst possible option, solidly cementing Mastodon in particular and the Fediverse in general as having the worst slang on the internet.

@Fruan for some reason Quoots reminds me of Quokkas, which to me sounds like an additional reason to adopt the term

after our conversation I realize it's time to write up an informal spec of how the network i'm envisioning will work.
i need it for the work i'm doing, and definitely will need it to explain how it works. and maybe get some ideas from people who review it.
