This is where I toot from

@mrgrumpymonkey I’m too lazy to get up and take a picture of my typewriter collection, as to show y’all where I’m tooting from.
@DrOinFL @SecularJeffrey@assignedbsba @DrOinFL @SecularJeffrey My first computer was a typewriter connected to a monitor that output orange text. Used that printer paper with holes on both side to boot. Used while I was in high school. Which was in the late 90's/early 00's. My family was very late to the tech party. Had to use the thing, as the school started requiring printed documents for school papers.

@assignedbsba @DrOinFL @SecularJeffrey The more chaotic this thread gets, the better.

I welcome the chaos.
70s and 80s, baby, bring it all on, you sick bastards!

they've only ever seen these..
@Felis_Catus_Domesticus @SecularJeffrey @DrOinFL @5teverin0 I use that to start the burner on one of the gas stove tops on my oven, as it has a hard time firing on its own. Useful invention.

hand one to a kid born after the 1980's and they don't even know how to use it.
@Felis_Catus_Domesticus @SecularJeffrey @DrOinFL @5teverin0 If they smoke weed, they understand.

Dude, I still remember when you could Scotch tape an actual penny to the mail-in order and get ten albums for one cent, as long as you signed away your first-born child, bank account PIN codes, and any life insurance policy you may have owned.

@DrOinFL @assignedbsba @SecularJeffrey I'll happily use paper and pen.

though these can be fun for kids too.. once they run out of fuel, you can strip the nozzle off them and make a mini stun-gun using the igniter, which creates a small brief high voltage arc. Ssshhh.. be that fun uncle for them. They'll spend hours trying to zap eachother in the ass like an old spy vs spy comic from mad magazine
@Felis_Catus_Domesticus @SecularJeffrey @DrOinFL @5teverin0 I never had that cool uncle.

@Felis_Catus_Domesticus @SecularJeffrey @DrOinFL @5teverin0 I seem to be learning the modern ways. Glad kids still find ways to be devious.

@mrgrumpymonkey my mother worked in IT (80s-00s) for a firm that no longer exists so I can admit that my first computer was one that was being thrown away by the company and so began the start of my hard drive collection.
I still have some of the continuous feed paper but no dot matrix printer to use it with lol. @DrOinFL @SecularJeffrey

@SecularJeffrey Any idea what the pointing device in her left hand could be?
@gergely @SecularJeffrey I think it's like a mouse for 3d environments... Like you could use it to input up/down (away/towards the desk) and rotation as well as normal 2d mouse motions.
