@SmudgeTheInsultCat I kept trying and failing to wrap my head around how many people were falling for such a stupid thing. I'm glad it finally ended up that the rest of the world came to that realization too

@JessTheUnstill @SmudgeTheInsultCat Did they though? Apparently, there's still someone out there who's willing to pay $155 for something that is essentially worthless.

While this is pretty stupid, it doesn’t even make the top 10 list of reasons why Logan Paul is an asshole.

It's pretty obvious that the main purpose of NFTs were for money laundering, closely resembling the way real estate used to be the go-to method for money laundering. Crypto is good for that, too. -

@SmudgeTheInsultCat So if I crop that screenshot, I can “own” the same NFT image.

@Cameopilot @JessTheUnstill @SmudgeTheInsultCat Well … if Paul still owns the NFT, then his loss has not materialized yet. Het still “owns” the “asset”. It could increase in value again, theoretically. But buy it from him at $155 and you can have the warm feeling that you’ve cost Logan Paul $634.845. That is money that he is never going to get back, even if NFTs suddenly became popular again.

He did it for the clicks. Big influencer energy.

@SmudgeTheInsultCat Why is it even worth $155? Can I just screen-cap the dumb image and be $155 richer?

@c_dan4th @SmudgeTheInsultCat I'm not sure that $635K is a larger fraction of Paul's ill-begotten wealth than $155 is of mine. Sadly.

@Cameopilot @JessTheUnstill @SmudgeTheInsultCat But by now it has value as a collectors' item, due to this history

I am pretty sure that these people were fully aware of the scam.
I once discuss with a person who was playing in a stock exchange simulation intending to become a trader in future. He was considering trading as a casino game : "I don't care to make profit on losers".

@SmudgeTheInsultCat @Migueldeicaza worth noting that Lauren Chen is a fascist apparatchik, federally indicted Russian propagandist, turning point USA employee among other crimes against humanity. I will admit this is a zinger but best to avoid platforming her

isn't this the same guy who bought and sold something else (I forget what it is, I"ll try to find the article) and made tens of millions of dollars from it? maybe it was a Pokeman card.
anyway. he seems like a total douchbag. not because he buys and sells things, but because he's a far right winger, right? I'm not a violent person but I like that gif of him having his lights punched out. again, I'm not violent. but that's a nice gif.
