Trying out the fediverse for the first time today. I've been reading a lot about it, now it's time to figure out how it works and build an internet home here.

@spencexyz @StaceyCornelius #bikenite runs every Friday from 7-8pm (eastern time) though a lot of the folks are based in CA (4-5pm their time)
@ascentale hosts, and gives 8 prompts each week that you can respond to in real time, or any time at your convenience

@claralistensprechen3rd @spencexyz I've seen other people on here who have rolled their own persona versions of Strava, but I haven't previously seen anyone doing a bike equivalent of open street maps. It'd sure be nice.

long term, I'd love to see a federated version of Strava. every year they cut down their api access further and further. but it's our data and we should be able to share with any external apps we want.
I'm trying to figure out how I can use the tools I'm building to expose more cyclists to the fediverse and help fuel that demand.

hey @Bonfire ! i saw this thread and thought you might be interested. there are currently solutions like OpenTracks for tracking physical activity statistics, but none have direct integration with ActivityPub for social sharing. A bonfire extension to integrate with an existing activity tracker could help many cyclists, hikers, runners, and more activity clubs migrate from Strava to communities on the fediverse

I'm mostly aware of the German bike fraction, but I'm sure there's plenty of people here posting in English.
It's probably been said to you before, but the best way to find people is using hashtags.
Also, you can set up an RSS feed on your website, and people can subscribe to it through the fediverse.

in ogni modo 70 mq di pannelli solari non sono un'inezia, per quanto leggeri possano essere la loro massa ha un impatto sulla spesa energetica necessaria per superare la velocità di fuga rispetto a quella richiesta da un generatore a radioisotopia a parità di condizioni.
Ma immagino che si tratti di perplessità tutte mie, i progettisti delle agenzie spaziali ne sanno mezzo universo più di me e avranno avuto le loro ragioni :-D
