It would be cool if I could do something in the terminal like:
"EXPLAIN: kill 1234 now"
And it will throw out something like:
"The command 'kill' will terminate the process 1234 which currently is ProcessName. Adding 'now' as modifier will have no effect and will make the command error out."
Uh? Maybe this can already be done IDK. Also, yeah, without using fuckin luigidamned "AI"
@afreytes They're not quite to that context-sensitive point (except for the website I've never heard of that seems to have gotten replaced by something else) but the couple of major "man pages are unreadable" options get an explanation at https://itsfoss.gitlab.io/post/good-alternatives-to-man-pages-every-linux-user-needs-to-know/

@afreytes you can always do "man kill"

@afreytes there is a website that does that, I'm not sure if they have a CLI.
It is self hostable* too.I assume you know the site and would want that in a cli package (I'll link if you want tho)

@afreytes yeah unfortunately you're stuck between the two extremes of rtfm and ai :/
and i know which i prefer. reading docs is one of the most important skills in computer/programming literacy though, so it definitely cant hurt to start now ✨

@afreytes there is https://explainshell.com
There are probably CLI wrapper for it, but I cannot recommand any this second.
I do use this android app on f-droid to find new interesting commands (think unknown unknown):
https://f-droid.org/packages/com.inspiredandroid.linuxcommandbibliotheca(I also found https://cheat.sh, but I never used it before )
